There seems to be strong connotations to DC comics character Harley Quinn, the henchgirl/girlfriend to the Joker. Candy shares a similar relationship, specifically including her nickname (S.T - Mr.J) and their exchange in Act 2 Scene 1, when Sweet Tooth reminds her who makes the puns ("That's a real gasser, huh Mr. J?"). She also shares Harley's distinctive two-tone costume style, though in her own distinctive colours.
